Reflection in Web 2.0 definitions and new literacy
Web 2.0 appears to be an all inclusive phenomenon, allowing people to interact in ways never thought possible. People can collaborate from thousands of miles away, voice opinions where they were never heard before, and create identities beyond reality. People are no longer passive receptacles for information passed along through their computers. Instead, Web 2.0 allows us to interact, influence, and create the information. In this regard, Web 2.0 does create a new facet of literacy. One must learn how to navigate this interactive space, how to create information knowing that it will be consumed by a variety of audiences, and how to interpret information from just as many sources. This phenomenon requires a new set of skills that go beyond that of straight consumption or production and is thus, a new literacy.
